Royal Philatelic Society
21 May 2024
28 Members and guests were given a tour of the Society's headquarters at 15 Abchurch Lane in the City. The Society, founded in 1869, had recently moved into this fine building previously occupied by the Gresham Club. Former Society President Chris King showed us round the many floors.
We saw items of postal history, rare stamps, forged stamps and the book and journal collection. We were privileged to meet the Expert Committee at work. These members were judging the authenticity of philatelic material submitted for judgement from all around the world.
Afterwards we walked to Browns Brasserie in Old Jewry for a two course lunch on the balcony.
